From an early age, Bernadette Greenwood had two genuine passions; one to be in nature and the other to do art of any kind. Her large family often visited the wildest corners of Victoria and here her imagination would immediately come alive.

At home, all the arts were highly valued and nurtured. Bernadette completed a Degree in Art Education and it was from here she began a journey of working and playing with art, and art teaching. For five years Bernadette lived in Thailand and Malaysia where she was fascinated and inspired by the culture, philosophy and art.

Parenthood gave her another doorway into all things creative for Bernadette and she became involved with sculpture projects, murals, mosaics, dyeing, felting and various legacy projects. She had a solo exhibition in Brisbane and a group show in Melbourne and taught drawing and painting in and out of the education system over the years.

The move to Kangaroo Island was dramatic but exciting, made easier by the Islanders she met. The natural offerings of the island enthralled Bernadette immediately; samphire beds abundant with birdlife and ever-enhancing light, the vivid colours of rocks on the shore and the accompanying feeling of peace.

At sixteen years old, Trish started her journey into the art world by attending a year of Graphic design at TAFE in Western Australia. Living in Kalgoorlie, a large mining town, posed it’s own challenges but excursions to Perth and Melbourne during this year were pivotal.

The next few years were spent completing many varied art units, with inspiring lecturers like Barbara Bolt. Life Drawing, Photography, jewellery making, ceramics and printmaking were an important foundation for developing valuable skills in all aspects of formal art discipline.
At 21, in 1993, Trish entered Edith Cowan University Associate Diploma course, double majoring in Life Painting and minoring in Life Drawing. Her love of colour and oil paint was crystallized in these years.

Trish returned to the Art world in 2013. Then living in country Victoria, attending an evening life drawing class saw her rediscover her once-forgotten passion. In 2014, entering a Fine Arts Degree course at LaTrobe in Bendigo, Trish was accepted as a second-year student with a 20 year old folio and some life drawings from the evening class that had inspired her return. This time was spent majoring in Painting, and minoring in Photography.

In November 2021, after Covid, and other life-changing circumstances, Trish moved to Kangaroo Island to begin again.
