Fred Peters left his former life as a qualified social worker and building designer to come to Kangaroo Island to build his house and develop right brain cells. Since then he has spent countless hours wandering the bush of his adopted island home fascinated by the many diverse forms and shapes of the unique Kangaroo Island mallee eucalyptus cneorifolia.
The large tree piece presented here and titled ’Safe Arbor’ celebrates both the grand trees that arbor the road above the Penneshaw ferry terminal and the critical shade and shelter belts the tree provides throughout the eastern end of the island.
