Desert Tears, Fred Peters

$235.00

Desert Tears was created specifically to celebrate the value of water upon the ending of the country’s most recent drought. It is a tribute to a small drought tolerant acacia, the “Western Myall” used by desert people to locate water even in the driest of years. This tree is a survivor capable of living through extreme conditions.

Fred Peters considers himself fortunate to live on Kangaroo Island where he is part of a thriving artistic community, and surrounded by a stunning natural environment. These constantly inspire his work.

Fred has worked for twenty-five years as a self taught artist, primarily as a jeweller, sculptor and glass artist with some of his artworks incorporating all three disciplines. For the How Do We Love Thee? Kangaroo Island National Wine Centre SALA Exhibitions 2010 – 2017 Fred’s techniques have included piercing precious metals, mainly silver, to create limited edition striking, art deco ‘like’ pieces, based on the Island’s and South Australia’s endemic trees.
