Cecilia Gunnarsson grew up in Sweden and studied at art schools in Gothenburg, at KV konstskola 1984 –1985 and Dômens konstskola 1985-1986.
Cecilia finished her studies with a Master of Fine Art at “the School of Design and Craft, Gothenburg University” 1986-1990. She has been working as a freelance illustrator ever since arriving in South Australia during the mid-1990’s. Most of her illustration work has been with the wine industry, where she has created illustrations for wine-labels. But there are posters, brochures, book covers, editorials etc in her portfolio too.
Cecilia also worked as a lecturer in illustration at the University of South Australia from 2001-2003.
Cecilia is always working to explore and develop her art, taking inspiration and sentiment from the South Australian landscape.
She travels regularly to Kangaroo Island, where she has a holiday house, and it is the Kangaroo Island landscape, and in particular its eucalypts, that are a great source of inspiration for her.

In Cecilia’s own words:
In my artwork I try to capture my experience of nature. The beauty as I see it, the colour and light, the feeling of the natural world and its spirit.
The Kangaroo island coastline is spectacular and wonderful. I love walking along these shores and when I see water I yearn to be in it: swimming, snorkelling, surfing, floating.
This part of the coast, near to my second home at Emu Bay, is one of my favourite places to be.
